How does affiliate marketing work?
There are three types of roles people take up, which make whole affiliate marketing thing work.
First type of users are creators or merchants. People that provide all those products for promotion. They create a product or offer a service. For their advertising purposes, they create ads on affiliate networks and make them open for promotion. They don’t even have to be actively involved in this relationship.
Second type are publishers or affiliates. Affiliates are people, who promote these readily available offers. Every affiliate can get their own unique links to the offers they wish to promote. This way the network can track which sale came from which affiliate.
Affiliates are free to promote these products with their marketing strategies. There are certain restrictions in place within each network, so people can’t bend the rules too far.
When a certain product is sold by marketing efforts of an affiliate, that affiliate gets a cut from the sale. With digital products, you could find offers, that would grant affiliates up to 75% cut from each sale.
Third and final type are customers or buyers. Customers are the most vital part of the whole system, since they are the reason cash flows.
Everybody likes customers, they bring in the money. Although, they are a part of this system, they more often than not don’t realize how their money will flow forward when the sale it done.
Everybody is connected by an affiliate network. Anybody can register on these networks. They handle all the ads, share performance analysis on each of them. They also handle all the cash flow, so you don’t have to worry about transactions between you and your customers.
Let’s start making some money
If you’re starting fresh and set yourself a goal to make a million dollars or something similar, affiliate marketing might be just the thing you’ve been missing out on.
Most of affiliate networks are free for sign up. They’re just like any website. Some networks have more strict criteria for application than others. If they reject you, you can still send a mail their way and show some genuine interest and they will probably give you a chance.
Let’s take a look at a few different networks and how they work.
If you’re just starting out with affiliate networks, I would recommend you start with CPAGrip. This network allows you to create your content of value and lock it with various different lockers.
For example, let’s take a look at file lockers. File locker will enable you to lock a file with a survey, that asks for a number or an email at the end. And if somebody is trying to get that locked file, they would have to complete the survey first.
And after each successfully completed survey, an affiliate will gain a small commission.
This one is perfect for complete beginners. CPALead gives you an option to create content others will be able to promote. But at the same time you can promote offers that others made. You’re free to decide which role you want to pick up. You can be a merchant and an affiliate at the same time.
This network also makes money from surveys.
Maxbounty is a network with high quality products. If you’re just starting out with affiliate networks, you might find Maxbounty a little challenging. But don’t fret, you can find videos on how to use the network on their website.
Maxbounty provides many things for affiliates, such as hosting, valuable tips in their blog section and more.
When you apply for this network, someone from this network will contact you and ask you a few questions. They will want to know what your motives are, what experience you have in this field and how do you intend to promote their offers. It’s nothing to be afraid of, you can have little to no experience and get confirmed, but you must know how you’re going to start working. And of course, it goes without saying, be nice and professional to the person on the other side of the line.
There are many other affiliate networks, to which you can apply as well. But in my experience, these three above are the easiest to understand, especially if you’re just starting out. Every network has their own pros and cons as you will find out in the future for yourself. Many say it’s easy money, but don’t go in with big expectations, because nothing comes easy.
Don’t get me wrong here, it’s simple but it’s not easy.
